How long have you been scrapbooking?
I've been a paper crafter for a long time. Some say it even dates back to when I was in Kindergarten, but I officially strarted to scrapbook in 2006. So I guess that makes it about 4 years now.
Why did you start scrapbooking?
I had so many photos of my daughter at that point, that I knew I needed to something. I joined an online site to get the hang of things and let's just say that way has lead on to way. I can't get enough of the creativity that goes along with scrapbooking.
What is your favorite "go-to" scrapbooking supply?
Don't laugh, because of all the scrapbook supplies that exist, I am always drawn to stickers. I know it must be the teacher in me, but I also have a fear of glitter and things that take a long time to dry, so if it looks good and can adhere to the page immediately - I am a big fan! Stickers can also be so versatile and add an element to a page that is just right.
How often do you use sketches?
Like Allison, I also sketch, but I usually create my sketches around a layout I have already designed (now the secret is out - LOL). But I have to say that when a friend or someone like Allison sends me a sketch to create with, it is really a treat. I love how sketches take a lot of stress out of the creation process and allows you to focus on what we all love to do - choosing photos, colors and products.
What do you love most about Scrapbook Generation sketches?
I love how many two-page sketches there are. I don't often create two-pagers, but when I do, I love the way it looks and having a really good sketch to use is such a big help for really wonderful projects.
What else can you tell us about yourself?
I love to craft, to share my sketches and work, but I honestly don't take myself too seriously. I have a humorous outlook on life in general - sometimes it shows up in my pages. So...when it stops being fun, I probably won't be into it anymore (not that I see that as a possibility right now). I will say that one of the most wonderful things I have discovered about this craft is how many amazing people are not only involved in the same hobby, but who are always willing to share their work and ideas or even become a really good friend.
The sketch, from Sketches for Scrapbooking, Volume 7, that has been used for all the layouts this week.
Layout #5 - Jolly Good Times by Liz Qualman
I had so much fun working with the sketch. It's perfect, I like it the way it is. But, I changed just a few things:
• I split one of the 6 x 3 photos into two and deleted one of the 2 x 2.5.
• I added a large embellishment where the journal tag is and then opted for journal strips instead.
• I also used less patterned paper and added some fun border strips.
Thank you Liz for sharing your version of the sketch with us!
Today is the last day for the Jillibean Soup and Sketches for Scrapbooking giveaway. Be sure to check back on Monday for the wrap up and to see if you won one of the giveaways. I'll also be sharing few more things about sketchsupport.com!
