Each month I'll be using the free download sketch that you can find in the Scrapbook Generation online store. (For those of you that don't know: On the third Tuesday of the month we introduce a bunch of new sketches both as individuals and as groups of sketches that you can download for a small price. We also offer a free sketch each month. I'll post all information for the new April downloads tomorrow.) Today you are getting an advanced look at the free sketch since it is the sketch I'm using for Sketch Week.
This month the free download is a one-page sketch.
Scrapbook Generation's Free April Sketch
*available for download on Tuesday, April 16
"Hanging With Jeremy"
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Fancy Pants; Stickers: Fancy Pants: Alphabet stickers: Fancy Pants: Chipboard alphabet: American Crafts; Ink: Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink; Embroidery floss: DMC
I followed the sketch very closely with just a few minor changes to fit what I was working with.
Variation #1 - I used journaling strips instead of journaling directly onto the background piece as suggested on the sketch. I tend to use journaling strips a lot. I not only like the way they look but I also how they can wrap around elements on the page and form to any design.
Variation #2 - I condensed the journaling down a lot. I just didn't need the large amount of journaling space as on the sketch. I tried to somewhat center the title and journaling so that I had equal spacing from the top of the journaling strips to the top of the background piece and from the bottom of the title to the bottom of the background piece. Sometimes I can be a little OCD about spacing. It doesn't have to be perfect by any means but I do try to keep a nice balance to everything.
Variation #3 - Instead of the hearts and arrows I used a mustache and stars.
