Excited because my project includes more than just a layout! There is a sketch too! Of course there is a sketch. I bet anyone who knows me saw that coming a mile away. I do kind of love sketches.
Each month I'm going to be creating a sketch and layout that has one side following the more traditional route of scrapbooking and the other side using the Sn@p! Pocket Pages. I think it's a fun concept to combine the two. Especially for people like me that love the Pocket Pages and cards but still want to get in some regular scrapbooking too.
Here a look at my first Life Documented sketch:
I still haven't scrapbooked the pictures from our vacation two years ago. Honestly, it's just too overwhelming. There are so many pictures! One day is 800 pictures and about 400 different little stories and moments and memories. It's a lot to take on!
However, I think this whole mix of traditional and the photo album-ish thing, like the Pocket Pages, is the way to go. I can have a little fun but also get it done quickly. The layout I created (below) has a ton of detail and it took very little time thanks to the cute cards. Those Pocket Pages made it so incredibly easy.
If you want to download the full sketch with all the measurements and directions be sure to go check out my post at Simple Stories. There is a link in my post, under the sketch. Plus, if you want to get a closer look at the details on my layout, there are tons of close up pictures showing a lot of the little details.
To celebrate my first post I say we do a giveaway! Leave a comment here AND on my post at Simple Stories and I'll randomly select two people to win a copy of Scrapbook Generation's Sketch Fusion with Simple Stories!
I'll announce the winners on Monday! Hope you enjoy the post and have a great weekend! :)

ReplyDeleteI love your take on this, use a sketch to create a regular layout and use the protectors to quickly use some photos and document the story! I think I will work the samen way on the album of my little boy born in january.
ReplyDeleteLove the sketch and how you used it to make a great layout! Thanks for sharing and the chance to win!

Oh, I love this idea. I don't want to go entirely to the pocket pages - I love 'regular' pages too much - but this gives me hope that our many vacations from the past few years might finally make it into books.
ReplyDeleteLove the layout and the paper collection. So much so that I need to get some. I have got back to scrapbooking after being in a lull for ages. I'm using Simple Stories for my daughter's travel album. she is disabled so Simple Stories means she can participate.
ReplyDeleteI am loving your sketch and layout! I am trying to get caught up so I really like this format.
ReplyDeleteYour sketches are always amazing. Love the multi options they inspire.
ReplyDeleteI absolutely LOVE your sketches and sketch books. I call them my sketch 'bibles'! I hope I can win!!
ReplyDeleteI love this layout using the best of both worlds!

ReplyDeleteWhat a great layout and I love that you are going to have new sketches too!

ReplyDeleteI love the pocket pages. And love your layout! It's an awesome way to get a lot of pictures in an album with out doing all traditional 12x12 layouts!
ReplyDeleteLove the two page layout. Having one "fancy" page and the other with leftover pictures that are too good to leave out is a great idea. Not only does it cut down on the work but it gives you a chance to use a lot more pictures.
ReplyDeleteI have loved SG for years and years! Couple that with my new found love for SS and it's a match made in heaven! Love the smashup!
ReplyDeleteI have started combining traditional scrapbooking layouts with pocket page layouts to get all those vacation photos scrapped quicker. Sounds like your sketch book would be perfect for me.
ReplyDeleteGreat ideas with a half scrappy page and half a pocket page! I would love this book!!
ReplyDeleteGreat to see some of your DT work with these wonderful products.
