"Little Miss Minnie"
Supplies - Cardstock: American Crafts; Patterned paper: BasicGrey; Alphabets: Doodlebug (little), October Afternoon (miss), American Crafts (Minnie), and Lily Bee Design (sweet); Chipboard embellishments: BasicGrey; Heart punch: Martha Stewart; Embroidery floss: DMC; Ink: Colorbox Fluid Chalk Ink
The newest addition to our family is making her debut on my blog today. It is becoming apparent that we have issues with cute baby animals and have zero power to resist them. This is why we have three dogs and two cats! We love Little Miss Minnie Blaze, named by Drew and Jackson. Minnie because Jackson's favorite girl character is Minnie Mouse and Blaze because Drew's favorite girl character is Blaze.
Variation #1 - I went with another two-page layout. This time I took that 4 x 4" photo and used it as my starting point. I took that idea and expanded it by the same size both up and across the page. I kept the idea of 4 x 4" photos but added more to fit the amount of photos I wanted to use. I kept the same proportions for the large mats as they are on the sketch.
I also kept the same smaller photos as suggested on the sketch and pretty much have them in the same general area as on the sketch.
Variation #2 - I made the largest background strip even larger height-wise since I was using a larger grouping of photos. You could still use the same size (height-wise) as the sketch suggests and it would totally work. I just thought since I increased the height of the photo why not increase the height of that strip too.
Variation #3 - I added more background strips. Again, since I increased the height of the photos I had more room to add more strips.
I also had the striped strip go behind the photos instead of going over the top of the bottom of the photos. By adding more photos I had to move the bottom of the photos down on the page. They ended up quite a bit further down on the page. Because of that my striped strip would have ran across the middle of that bottom row of photos.
Variation #4 -I moved the embellishment on the left page like I did on my two-page layout on Day 3. I used a journaling block with some cute cats and hearts.
I also added a few strips of paper behind the embellishment piece.
Variation #5 - I moved the title to the same place I did on my Day 3 layout. I think for a two-page layout, at least with what I was working with, the title just looks better on the right page above the journaling. If I had kept similar height proportions to the sketch, like just doing three 4 x 4" photos in one row, I would have kept the title as it is on the sketch. When I increased the height of everything I kind of eliminated the title space.
Have a great weekend! Be sure to check back on Monday to see who won the giveaway this month! :)

I love the two pager again! :) And I love that both you and Megan used supplies that are not brand new. I think it's truly refreshing because there is a ton of great product that I still have in my stash too. :)
ReplyDeleteThanks Megan! I think I got it fixed! :)
ReplyDeleteLove how you take the 1-pagers and make them into two! And how different those changes make each of your layouts! Thanks Allison!

Allison you have an amazingly brilliant mind. Thank you for sharing yet another sketch with us! (and for showing us a number of variations on it!!)Love all the pictures of "real life" in your sketches. Remindes me to take pictures of the everyday stuff.
ReplyDeleteThanks for showing another great way to stretch a one page sketch to a 2 pg design...I have stayed away from the 1 pg sketch books bc I am a 2 pg gal but I have learned so much from your sketch wks that I think buying those books is in my near future...lol
