Monday

This last Monday I quite possibly had the most fun I've had at work. All because of these two. My sister and my mom. I don't know what it was but we were all in such a goofy mood, Stacey and I teaming up against Mom with our signature smart ass comments, Mom giving the look that consists of a tilted head and a smirk on her face. We almost always say that we got our witty and sarcastic characteristics from Dad, but I think we got some from Mom too. She's just a little more ladylike about it.

Years ago I never would have thought that I would have the relationship that I do with my mom or my sister. Mom and I had some rough, I would like to say patches but to be honest I would have to say years, while I was in high school. Two stubborn women that could never agree on anything or simple disagree just so we weren't agreeing. It sounds exhausting and it was. Stacey and I have been close for quite some time but believe me, it didn't start out that way. I was the pesky sister that only wanted to be like my big sis. I drove her crazy! In turn she didn't really want to hang out with me much.

I was a little scared at first that we were all going to be working together. Would the old problems Mom and I had resurface? Would Stacey and I get to the point of wanting to knock each other out? Much to my relief, it's been nothing short of great. Sure there have been moments that might not have gone smoothly and yes, there have been arguements, but we always manage to work through them and get right back to our goofy selves.

I feel like the three of us have been through so much together and that our relationship is always growing. I feel so lucky to have these two women in my life.

Allison - this story brought tears to my eyes - my sister died when I was 23 and she had just turned 25 - I still miss her. She was my best friend. I am so glad you appreciate each other.

Monday was abnormally fun...I told Jeremy the same thing when I got home that night! For all the disagreements, when the planets align, it's amazing just how similar we all can be. Well, that and it's always fun to gang up on Deb (sorry, Mom).

i hope you relay this story to your boys. it shows that you are willing to make amends w/ your family and that blood is thicker. when you think about it, our family is all we have in the end. our friends leaves but family (in most cases) stay together through all the rough and great times. i keep reminding my 3 kids to always love each other because when we (me and hubby) are gone, it'll always be them 3. thanks for sharing.

Penny, I am so sorry about your sister. I can't even imagine how difficult that is. I would feel lost without mine.

Hey Ali!! TFS this great story of you and your mom and sister!! I've always been close to my mom, but my 2 younger sister's and I were separated at a young age due to divorce, so we only got to see each other every other weekend. I would've given anything to have all lived together, but now that we are adults we are getting closer and one of my sisters just moved down the street from me last month.....and we are having a great time together. I need to do a SB l/o about us living so close to each other. Thanks for the inspiration! -nikki sivils
