I love one-page sketches but there is no doubt that two-page layouts are my comfort zone. Most of the time I have too many pictures to condense down to just one page. If you are in the same boat and mostly create two-page layouts, no fear, a one-page sketch is still usable for you too! It's all just a matter of stretching the design to fit onto two-pages. It's super easy to do!
Variation #1 - The starting point and my reason for stretching the one-page sketch into a two-page layout began with the pictures. Instead of just having one larger photo (the 3-1/2 x 5" photo on the sketch) I used three 4 x 6 photos instead and stretched them across the layout.
Variation #2 - The second change with the photos is the size of the smaller accent photos. On the sketch there are three 2-1/2 x 3-1/2" photos but I used three 2-1/2 x 2-1/2" photos. I printed those photos as wallet size but they were horizontal, not vertical like the photos on the sketch. I didn't have enough room to use them as they were so I cropped them down to squares.
Variation #3 - I removed the photo mat from the larger photo on the sketch and instead used photo mats on the smaller accent photos.
Variation #4 - Because I adjusted everything to fit on a two-page layout I had to do some minor adjustments with the paper. On the right page the large photo is all the way on the left edge which created more space where the vertical strips hang down. This was the perfect opportunity to add more strips to fill that space.
Variation #5 - Since I added more strips to fill that space I had more space for journaling. I used longer journaling strips than suggested on the sketch.
Variation #6 - I added a little extra detail around the title to support the theme of my page. (I actually got the idea of the stitched "wind" swirls from my oldest son Drew. Whenever he draws pictures he always draws wind in the clouds and it looks exactly like the wind I stitched on my layout.)
The stitched wind also helped to fill a small gap I had at the end of my title. I wanted my title to extend across the whole bottom of the 4 x 6 photos but it fell a little short. This was an easy fix for that little gap.
Variation #7 - I didn't add a banner across the top of the photos as suggested on the sketch. Instead I added clouds cut from patterned paper.
Two groups of the clouds are roughly where the ends of the banner would be had I added it to the layout.
Be sure to check back Friday for the last layout I have created based on the free Feb. sketch and then Monday to see who has won the download giveaway.
If you have created a layout based on the free sketch for February be sure to leave a link to it in the comments. I always love to see how people use the sketches!

I love how easy you make it look. I have never tried making a one page sketch into a two page layout...off to try this. Thanks.
Thanks for sharing with us. I love the 2 page layouts.
I love the sketch converted to a 2pager...and I love your stitching.
I am a two page gal too (same reason-too many photos). Love how you converted this sketch and I will be definitely using this version of the sketch.
Thanks

I really like how you turned this into a two page sketch. I mainly make two page layouts, although recently, I've been making more one page layouts. I really like this sketch, can't wait to use it!
Beautiful page, nice adaptation!
Wow! What an amazing layout! You are so talented!
You rock the stitching Allison; you always have! Love the conversion from 1 to 2 pager.
The layout is great and I love the 2 page take on the sketch as most of the time I do 2 page layouts. Thanks!
Love how you stretched this into a a two page layout. Beautiful work!
I have to say I love two-pagers!
I can not tell you how happy I am for sketch week and a 2 pager... HEAVEN!!!
I love how you turn one page sketches into two page layouts. I have the same problem of too many pictures and rarely do single pages.
I'm sooooo thrilled about sketch week, couldn't wait to see this today!! You still ROCK at the two pages and stitching Allison. Love the added clouds instead of a banner.
Thanks for making my Wednesday brighter!
Will give this a try!
What a great variation. I usually do 2 page layouts as well and it is great to see how you adapted the design to fit two pages.
The clouds are such cute accents and I love all the colored strips of paper- would be great for using up scraps. Can't wait for another on Friday
Great LO. Love the stitching. Cute pictures.
Love this! How do you get your stitching to look so great? Mine leaves larger holes and it doesn't look nearly as good. Yours looks almost like a machine did it.
I'm definitely a two page girl as well. Love how you adapted it and including the stitched wind. What a great reminder of something your son does.
Love this! Love it being two pages even better and the stitching is awesome.
Awesome 2 pager. I love how you stretched the sketch and I'm always having headache with 2 pages. Takes me double the time. Thanks for sharing. Love the stitching btw.
When I saw the one-page sketch, I was thinking about how to stretch it to a two-pager, and you did it for me!!
This is absolutely amazing!! I love everything about it and all the details and elements. This would be perfect for me to use and get rid of some of my scrap paper. Can't wait to see the next LO from this sketch!
Man, I wish my stitching would look
so good. Love the layout!
Love all the stitching on this! Very fun layout!
I confess I never would've thought about taking a one-page sketch and making it into a two page layout. Amazing! Can't wait to try it. Thank you!
Love the wind stitches! I'll have to try that.
What a gorgeous layout...Love so many details about this page. The title and topic are just wonderful and like everyone else stated- YOU ROCK the stitching. Please post a tutorial someday about what you use and some pointers. Mine sometimes comes out a little crooked. Yours is always perfect.
The elements and papers you selected are just perfect as well.
Thanks for sharing. RIGHT into my FAV file!
I love your stitching... I never tried before, but seeing your pages i have to try it !!! Thanks one more time for doing this again, beautiful work.
opps, my comment got lost! I always love it when a 1 page sketch is interpreted as a 2 pager ... awesome stitching!
