Sketch Week, Day 2

Yesterday was Download Day so there are new sketches in the Scrapbook Generation online store. You'll definitely want to go get the free May sketch. The free sketch is the same sketch that I am using as a starting point for all my layouts this week. Check out this post from yesterday to see the other sketches that were added to the online store.

"Just One Picture"

Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Simple Stories and Webster's Pages, Allison Kreft Designs; Wood Veneers: Studio Calico; Alphabet stickers: October Afternoon and American Crafts; Heart punch: Martha Stewart; Arrow sticker: Simple Stories; Embroidery floss: DMC

Variation #1 - One great thing about this sketch is that it can easily be split into a one-page layout, especially the left page. I wanted to use the left side because it stands alone with minimal to no adjustments.

Variation #2 - One of my favorite things about adjusting this sketch into a one-page layout is the endless possibilities for adding a background to the page. I added a bunch of strips in different heights and widths as my background. Here are some more ideas:

• Add a large square background, like 10" or 11" square.
• Add a decorative background like a die cut paper.
• Use a template or mask with inks or paints to create a background.
• Add a large shape like a heart, star, circle, etc.
• Add a bunch of smaller squares like 1", 2", or 3"
• Combine this photo arrangement with the paper design of another one-page sketch.

This sketch is definitely one that you can use over and over and get completely different looks with just one small adjustment.

Variation #3 - For the pictures, I followed the sketch exactly except for leaving one photo off to use as my journaling space. That's always an easy solution for a sketch that might not have as much journaling space as you would like. Just exchange a photo or element on the sketch for journaling space.

Variation #4 - Instead of using the stars on my layout I used hearts, cameras, and arrows to fit my theme.

Be sure to check back on Friday to see the last layout of Sketch Week!

The first thing I thought when I saw this LO is how easily it could make a super cute one page LO!
And your LO is just that...super cute!
I did a LO on the exact same subject (used an SG sketch for it also) so you're not alone with trying to get that perfect shot!

Fantastic!! What I love about this sketch is how easily either side makes a one page layout, so it's like three sketches in one (yes, I know you can adapt any sketch, but this one is just so easy to adapt). I adore the SS chevron paper cut up like this...it rocks! Colorful and fun, great layout!

Been reading on a lot of the forums about how that left page would make a wonderful one pager. And you proved them right.

This sketch made a very nice one page layout. Everyone is loving chevron right now (me too). This is a great use of some strips of SS line. Thanks for sharing!

Thank you for showing a one-page layout. I've always been a two pager but this last year started making more and more one-pagers! Always nice to have some fresh ideas! Really like your embellishments you made!
