"Ready to Go Swimming"
Supplies - Cardstock: Bazzill; Patterned paper: Fancy Pants Designs; Stickers: Fancy Pants Designs; Alphabets: Fancy Pants Designs (ready to go) and American Crafts (swimming); Flourishes: unknown; Embroidery floss: DMC
One thing that this layout has in common with the layout from Monday is that I wanted to add three more photos into the design. Where they differ is the size of the photos. On the layout from Monday I could easily get away with just adding a few small 2 x 2" photos that didn't require any adjustments of the surrounding elements. Today's layout required some changing to allow those extra pictures!
Variation #1 - Let's start with the photos on the left page:
I added an extra 2-1/2 x 3-1/2" photo in the row on top and then a 3 x 5" photo beside the 7 x 5" photo. Basically I took that photo block on the sketch and extended it to hold more photos.
I love photo blocks because they are so easy to stretch and adjust to fit whatever size or amount of photos you want to use. It's kind of like a puzzle figuring out what sizes can go where but really it's an easy change you can make!
One the right page I did the same thing, extended everything to hold another photo.
Since the photos on the sketch are 3 x 5" I had plenty of room to add in an extra 3 x 5" photo. I arranged them slightly different than the sketch. The one on the far left is a little slanted while I kept the other two straight, a little lower, and aligned. I did this to accommodate for the title and the journaling.
Variation #2 - I made the background pieces stretch to fit the whole page. Since I was extending the photos on both sides that seemed to be the easiest solution to the background. Too much of it would have been hidden if I had just left it the same as the sketch.
Variation #3 - I add a few more strips to the background. Since I extended the background to the edges and because I used just plain cardstock for that background, I want to add in more color with the strips. For the most part I just added a few 1/4" strips and changed the sizes of the strips on the sketch to a wider size.
Variation #5 - I changed the line of stars with the stitched line through it to fit better with my theme and with the extended photos.
I used a phrase sticker with a few splashes of "water" made out of patterned paper. I added a few finishing touches with stitching and the small blue flourishes.
I added the same splashes by the title too.
Splashes are one of my go-to embellishments for water pages. I love how easy they are to make and how much fun you can have with them. You can make them larger and layer lots of them together to make a super splash element on a page or you can just cluster a few small ones here and there like I did on this layout. I like mixing different patterns in the same colors too!
Variation #6 - When I added another photo on the right page I lost my journaling space as suggest by the sketch. Earlier I talked about why I arranged the photos the way I did on the right page and how part of that was to accommodate for the journaling. With the photos arranged the way they are I was had a nice little open area below the photos for my journaling.
I also used a journaling block instead of the journaling strips on the sketch.
Be sure to check back on Friday to see the last layout of Sketch Week! And, don't forget about the giveaway! You can find the info for the giveaway in the post from Monday - Sketch Week, Day 1

Love the pictures and the way you stretched the sketch to accommodate the extra ones. Great variations as always.
So much fun to be able to see LOs by some of the designers who were regulars on Sketch Support. Loving their pages along with yours. Fun week here at your blog.
I love the color combinations here!! I also like the idea of adding additional photos without trimming them here. This layout is great and I love all the little details here!!
Thank you so much for bringing Sketch Week back and having guest designers from your Sketch Support DT. It's so fun to see sketches and layout again!

Absolutely love this---especially the detail in the simple embellishing!
The photos are definitely the highlight of this page. They really stand out with the paper and embellishment choices you made. I love it and can't wait to use some "splashes" for some water pages on my list of pages to complete. Thanks for sharing!
What a fun LO, i'm definately using the sketch for a summer page!
A great LO. Its fun to see other people using your sketches. It shows how versatile they are.
Do you have any advice on choosing picture sizes?
I haven't had time to comment every day but I just want to say how much I enjoy these sketch weeks. I know it is a lot of work but all your talent is definitely appreciated!!!

I think splashes are my favorite embellishment, I have so many water, beach pool pictures. Great layout and it is great to see how you accommodated so many pictures
