The Big Three-uh oh

On Sunday I said goodbye to my twenties.

I would say that in the last three years or so I thought my 30th birthday was going to be a rough one. This could be due to the fact that everyone I've been around hit the big three-oh and thought it was the end of the world. My husband for example went into a depressed slump for a good three days. Thank goodness it only took him a few days to realize that life hadn't ended.

I kept waiting for the depression to set in and counted down the days, wondering when I was going to freak out. I ,however, have been the polar opposite of depressed. The way I see it from here on out everyone has to take me seriously. This includes you Mom! I have officially hung up my young and stupid hat (which I wore pretty well) and traded it in for the older and wiser one. And I'm completely cool with that. Wait, am I allowed to say things like "cool" anymore?

All joking aside, what it all boils down to is pretty simple really.

I've never in my life been more sure of who I am, what I want out of my life, and what makes me happy. What could possibly be scary about that?

It's just a silly number. :)

On a different subject, I loved reading all the words of support about our CHA debut. It's going to be such a fun experience!

Happy Birthday Ali!! I'm not quite to the 30 year mark but it's coming close! And I can't wait! I too can't wait to hang up my young immature hat and put on the older and wiser hat! Maybe then people will start to take me seriously and stop calling me a baby! LOL!!! I hope you had a wonderful day celebrating life! I love your sketch books and can't wait to order some of them! Thanks for all the inspiration!

Happy Belated Birthday Allison!!! I love what you wrote about turning 30 it was perfect and true. That's how I felt and felt again last year when turning 40. Hope it was a fun day for you.

Congratulations to the winner she is going to love your new sketchbook.

Congratulations to you Allison on all your comments and support even from your mom she is so funny. I kept watching the # of comments go up all weekend, how exciting. So based on this I hope you have enough books for CHA because they are going to sell out QUICK!!!

Happy Monday!

Happy Belated Birthday!! It didn't hit me as hard as I expected either. It's not as old as I used to think "30's" were now that I am in them. ;)

Happy Belated Birthday! I can't believe that I won. My family and I just made a trip down to the store this past Saturday and I picked up a copy of volume 6! I love it, and already have a ton of pages planned to do this week. Thank you very much - your sketches make my scrap time more productive (especially with a three year old). I have sent you an email with my contact information. Thanks, again!

Yea...well, what I wouldn't GIVE for 30. LOL. (Heck, what I wouldn't give for 40 ;))

I'm not complaining tho. Life's been good to me so far.

Thanks for sharing your talents and your stories. :)

Happy Birthday.
From where I sit you are still wonderfully young.
When I turned 30 I went into a depression due to my parents both died before 60 - so I figured my life was 1/2 over.
So when I turned 60 I celebrated with a big birthday bash. And I look at each day as a gift to celebrate, = God is good.

Bless you for many, many, more years of birthdays to celebrate.

Happy Belated 30th!!! Hope you had a great day! 25 was much harder than 30 for me because everybody around me kept stressing the fact that I was a quarter of a century old!

I turned the big 3-0 last month. Personally, I don't like it, lol. But, there are other issues as to why I don't like it. My husband on the other hand took to his 30's wonderfully, maybe that had something to do with still look like he's in his late teens, early twenties. Hmmm... that could be it.

Happy Belated Birthday!

30 wasn't so bad, but I am 4 years away from the big 40, ask me then as I am not looking forward to that one!

Happy belated Birthday!! When I hit 30, almost 9 years ago, I made my hubby take me to go ride rollercoasters b/c I was so excited about hitting that milestone! The 30's are great!! :)

Happy Birthday Ali! I have to echo what mcscraps5 wrote when she said 29 was worse than 30. I felt the same way. So many wonderful things happened in my 20's. Also, my dad died when I was in my 20's, so for some reason I did not want to picture myself entering a new decade without him. The thing is, I figured out that I didn't want my life to pass me by because I was stuck trying to hold on to something intangible like an age, and I realized that I could take my memories of my dad forward into my 30's and not leave him behind.

I'm in my 30's now, and I have to say that they are pretty awesome. I have a son, and I got to move home from a place far away. I'm blessed. I've enjoyed and appreciated each decade so far, but I wouldn't want to go back to any of them. In a few years I'll try out a new decade, and I imagine I'll find new things to love about it, too.

My mom has always said, "I love birthdays. Consider the alternative..."

Oh, and I really got a kick out of that "Big Three Uh-oh" title. I'm picturing it on a layout. :)

happy birthday! As someone who has been in her 30s for like 3 or 4 years now... LOL I started to lose count a couple years ago, i say EMBRACE it, being in your 30s has its share of benefits and caveats but there ARE benefits. First, you are more confident and focused, at least that's my experience. secondly, sexual peak, nuff said ;-) I don't think i'd be any other age, honestly!d
