Hello Kindergarten!

I spent almost the whole summer saying, "I can't believe Drew is going to be in Kindergarten this year!" and before I knew it the first day had arrived. I've had a lot of people ask me if I cried and you know what, I didn't. Drew was bouncing off the walls with excitement and I couldn't help but to bounce right with him.

Okay, I might have sniffled a little.

Even though I am very excited for him, I'm still a little nervous and not just for Drew but for me as well. I grew up in a small town and went to a school where I knew everybody. The students, the teachers, the principal, the cooks, the janitors, the bus drivers, etc. Everybody. It was such a strange feeling for me to walk Drew to his class on the first day and to be so unfamiliar with everything. The size of his elementary (K-5) is bigger than my whole school was (K-12).

Drew, of course, is adjusting at a speedy rate and making new friends everyday. I'm so proud of him for being so brave, eager to learn, and such a good, sweet kid. This is going to be a fun year!

My online class, Sketch Support, is full! I have gotten a lot of emails asking about if it was going to be offered again and I'm excited to answer with a yes! Due to the quick sell out of the first one we will be having a second session of Sketch Support in October. I don't have the exact date yet but as soon as I know I will post it here. :) I'm so excited to get to know a lot of you through the class!

What a cutie! I know what you mean by small school. The TOWN I grew up in was 350 people. Went to a baseball game recently where attendance announced was 1200. My thought, "there's more people here watching this game than in my hometown!" weird.

Drew is too stinkin' cute and I love, love, love his red hair. I know what you mean by small schools, b/c my kids go to a very small one (less than 200 students grade preschl-8th grd). And we know ALL the staff. I bet you'll be feeling just as comfortable as he is, in no time at all.

Glad to hear you'll be doing another sketch support class. keep us all post on that.

Okay...I hadn't cried or gotten really sappy (which is of course weird for me) until I saw that picture! He looks so big, and grown-up, and so not the chubby cheeked, curly haired little boy that called me Tacey and laughed uncontrollably with me when he was teeny tiny. What a handsome little man he has grown into. (I'm done being sappy auntie now.)

Awww....I have seen through your blog Ali Drew grow up into the little man he is now and he's still got that adorable little face he had when he was a babe...I miss that mass of curly red hair!
Big hugs to you (and Auntie Tacey!
:)who seems like she might need them more! LOL)
Such a cutie patootie! :)

I balled last year when my little girl started K. But then I started having lunch with her once a week and occasionally volunteering in the classroom... I was amazed to find how quickly you get to know everyone! Even if it just means that someone recognizes your face and offers a quick "Good Morning", it helps knowing your little one is surrounded by people who know you.

Before you know it, you will have a 1st grader!

How exciting! What a great picture to scrap. Lots of new school papers out right now too. Crate Paper's school line is awesome especially the chipboard.

Hi Allison,

Thank you so much for posting this cute picture of Drew. He has grown up so much, I miss his curls too. I like the photo with his bag and supplies. So happy for you both that school is starting off good and he's having fun. My school was like yours too and my kid's is huge but the staff and teachers are so so nice love them all. I'm so glad your having another sketch class maybe I can do it but as of this morning my husband's car broke down and the money I've been saving will now go to his car. I really wish you had this class over the summer. Right now there is too much school fees, pictures, etc. to pay for on top of everything else. I'm so happy for you and your successful turnout for the class though. Have a good week.

What an adorable little boy! So cute. :) My little one started 3rd grade today. I still get a little sad on the first day of school. Well excited for her and a little sad at the same time. She's growing up so fast. I took a picture of all her school supplies too. Us scrapbookers think alike. lol!

Kindergarten is such a fun time! I just moved my son into his freshman dorm today! Cherish the time, it goes by way too quickly.
Also just wanted to let you know that I have all of your sketch books. I just received #6 this week. It is amazing! I have been scrapbooking for 11+ years and have been told I am pretty good at it, but with your sketch books, it is amazing what I can do! I would love to show them off, too bad you don't have a spot for layout posts.
Enjoy your half day of freedom.
A fan,
Leslie Huff

Hi Allison,

Hope it was a good week with school. Have a fun relaxing weekend. Thanks for the birthday wishes by the way, it was a fun day at the beach with my kids.

Are you using another personal sketch next month and any hints on the sponsor for the week will be???
Hoping to have computer up and running in couple weeks.
