Sketch Week - Wrap Up and Winners

Another Sketch Week has gone by. I couldn't believe it the other day when I realized that we have almost reached the 1 year anniversary of Sketch Week. I'm going to have to come up with something extra special for that one! Any suggestions or ideas or requests?

This Sketch Week was so much fun. I really enjoyed sharing the sketch with you guys. It's one of my favorites and has been in my sketch book for a long time just begging to be used!

Here's a look at all the layouts from the last week together.

The sketch

A big thank you to BasicGrey for sponsoring Sketch Week this month! They donated such a great giveaway!

And the winner is...

The big picture is perfect!!

Congrats Christa! Email me at alidavis1919@hotmail.com and let me know which volume of Sketch for Scrapbooking you would like!

Mark your calendars! The next Sketch Week will start on Monday, October 11.

I love reading all the comments and answering your questions. Usually I just post the answer in the comments section but I never know if you all go back and see them. So I'm posting them below so I know you'll see them. :)

Are the flowers hand stitched or machine stitched? Also, are they chipboard or regular pattern paper?
The flowers are came in an embellishment pack from BasicGrey and are fabric. I used hand stitching on the stems. I've got a machine but have never ventured into using it on my pages.

So now that you've taken care of teaching us all about how to make amazing layouts...when do the photography lessons start:)
Believe me it would be a very short post! :) I'm one of those that takes a million pictures and ends up with one or two great ones. I wish I could be one of those that took awesome pictures all the time!

How did you happen to capture this moment? (The "Flowers for Mommy" pictures)
Drew was in the front yard and I was taking pictures (surprise, surprise!). I saw he had a handful of flowers and was heading my way so I took pictures. I knew he was going to give them to me because he's always bringing me flowers so I wanted to make sure I got pictures of the handoff. The big surprise was the sweet moment after. I wish I had pictures of that!

Don't you just love when your boys give you flowers from the yard?
YES! Drew still does it and Jackson just started It's so dang cute and makes my day!

Do you use DMC floss to stitch on your pages?
Yes. Well, for the most part. It's definitely my go to. So many colors and I like the quality.

Was one of those BG packs a Christmas theme?
Yes, it's called Jovial. It's the one I used on my Christmas layout.

Are the little cars Basic Grey?
Yes, and they are so cute in person! I'm kind of sad that I already used all of mine!

Do you think you could do a photo collage and use it in place of all the pics?
You sure can!

Do you order your pics with a border or use ink or paint for the black border you used in these pics.
I use ink and paint on the edges. I think my favorite to use is paint because it adds a thicker border so it almost looks like a frame.

Happy Monday! :)

Congratulations to the winner!!

Allison this was a great week. If I had to pick a favorite it's be the flowers because of it's sweetness and the being an aunt one because I LOVE LOVE being an aunt. I can't believe it's coming up to a year either it's gone by so fast. Maybe you can have two sketches everyday that week ( I think you did that before) and Stacey would help or your mom. That would be fun. Thanks for answering the questions this way it was easier. Thanks again for all you do.

For the 1 yr...I like the guest designer and 2 layout suggestions but maybe add that each day the layouts have to feature a specific element or product like brads one day, ribbon/stitching/borders/punches etc another day. It would be fun to see your take on a layout and your guest designers on the other. Just a thought...and maybe the giveaway that week could be a sample of each product used that week alongside a sketch book--I'm still hoping I will win one of those eventually! : ) Thanks for listening!

Hi again Allison,

I just read krollers comments and think that's a cool idea for different theme ideas and the more prizes will be great I'm really hoping to win where as before I didn't. All these cool sponsors and products make me want their things though. I had another thought for your daily sketchbook winner maybe you could autograph it before you send it to them too, since you are becoming even more famous you know!!

Thanks for listening and asking our opinions....

Congrats to the winner. For a 1 year celebration, maybe you could post the sketch a few days before and let us see what we could do ourselves after a year of great instruction, then e-mail them to you. Then you could post your layout and a favorite follower layout each day. Thanks again for all the work you put into this. (and thank Stacey for her great work as well.) Traci

Congratulations Christa! Enjoy your goodies.

I like the previous suggestions of extra layouts and guest scrappers. Prizes are always good, too. Here is an idea I have: Choose some blog readers (maybe a contest) to submit photos for your layouts. Maybe you could make one layout each day for a reader and one of your own pictures. I personally would love to have a layout of my pictures designed by you. (And... since I submitted the idea I should get to be one of the readers chosen, right?!) :)

You could also make it sketch month in honor of your anniversary. Then you could fit in all of the above ideas. I know that makes me sound greedy, and I don't mean to be. I'm just brainstorming.

Other than that, I would love to have 30 minutes with your personal sketch book and a photocopier... ;)

It's hard to believe it has been a year. I L...O...V...E Sketch Week and appreicate all of the time and effort yuo put into each one to make it so great!

I just wanted to say again how thrilled I am to have discovered your blog. I couldn't wait to try this month's sketch, and have posted the result to my blog, along with a link to yours.

I also wanted to give a shout out to an LSS in Kitchener, Ontario called "Two Scrapbook Friends"; it is because of them that I found you. I sure hope next time I visit (they're about an hour away) they have some of your books in stock.

Congratulations Christa! Enjoy your prize!

I'm back again to read all the comments always love reading their ideas and thoughts. Well Amy I love your idea if we could send pictures in and have Allison do a layout with them. I've actually thought of that a few times this past year. To make it even more exciting to would be we could guess who did our layout whether it be from our pictures or one of yours. I like the idea of spreading it thru the month. Sorry we get so greedy of your cool sketches Allison but it's my favorite week too. Thank you for all the hard work you put into each week. I'm sure I'll be back again just can't seem to stay away.

Another great week! Congrats to the lucky winner.

I think you should do a reader challenge where you post a sketch & we submit what we do with it.

And also have your regular sketch week where you show your sketch & layouts.

I'll say it again...I LOVED all of this month's layouts. The other night while stumped on a page, I ended up using your August sketch week sketch and the "...Drew" layout for inpspiration.

You can check it out here: http://amyinky.blogspot.com/2010/09/i-heart-allison-davis-sketches.html

Thanks!

As much as I wish I could I would probably have to veto Sketch Month. That would be a lot, lot of work. With a full time job and two kiddos I wouldn't be sleeping at all that month! :)

julie, since the past Sketch Week sketches are all in our books I don't think they will be made into PDFs. :( I'll have to talk to the other gals at SG and see what they think about it.

mothtalk, your layout is awesome!! Beautifully done!

Valerie, I wish I could take credit for that layout but that was the guest designer's layout, my sister Stacey. :) I'll tell her you said it though! :)

Amy, your layout is great! Thank you for sharing it!
