Ghost Cookies

Have I ever mentioned how much I love this time of year? I'm looking forward to the next week being full of some of our favorite fall traditions. Like our our annual trip to the pumpkin patch, watching Halloween movies, carving pumpkins, going trick-or-treating, and making these..

Ghost cookies!

Last year I stumbled across a recipe for these cute little cookies in a magazine and they are now a Halloween staple in this house. They are so easy to make (a package of Nutter Butter cookies, melted almond bark, and mini-chocolate chips for the eyes) they are delicious, and the kids can make them with very little help.

Jackson was a little too small to help out last year but I have a feeling he'll love joining Drew and I in the sweet fun. I'm thinking we'll spend Friday night watching It's the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown and making some Halloween treats. I'm looking forward to it!

What are your favorite Halloween/Fall traditions or activities?

We don't decorate for Halloween, but I love fall!!! We love going to the pumpkin patch and watching the boys find the perfect pumpkin. They each have their own picking method no one else understands. It fun to watch and they are so proud afterward! LOL

We also love going to the pumpkin patch, and going up north to see the fall colors. It's so beautiful. We just went last weekend and I took some really great pictures of the kids that I can't wait to scrap.

Carving pumpkins is one of my family's favorite traditions! My two oldest are now in college, but they come hone for this tradition and boy can they use their imaginations!
Also up until this year we have always had a neighborhood halloween party. We served hot scones and hot chocolate. We moved away recently and I am finding myself missing that tradition.

We have our 3rd annual Halloween Hunt this weekend at our house. The kids wear their costumes and run all over the backyard looking for treats and little toys. It's like an Easter Egg hunt. Too cute to see them run around in their outfits!

We enjoy everything about Fall! We start off by decorating our front porch for Fall, going to craft festivals, pumpkin patches, spooktacular at the zoo, haunted corn mazes, Halloween parties at school, Trick or Treating and making cookies and caramel apples. September and October are always very busy months for our household.

I love this layout of Drew. Such a cute and easy cookie idea. Love the little ghost stickers on the layout. This is our busiest time of the year too....pumpkin picking, hayrides, corn mazes, haunted forest, drinking warm apple cider and donuts, decorating inside the house, enjoying the leaves and playing in them. Just about anything right now is fun for us. Thanks for sharing this cute layout with us.

Great layout! I love those cookies! We went to my dd's fall festival and someone had made similar ones and put them into a cupcake... they were yummy!

My fav traditions are decorating the yard with gravestones and spookies, going to the farm to pick out our pumpkins & get some apples which we did for the first time (apples that is) come home, we get in our slop t-shirts and paint away on the pumpkins! My son is not yet 2 and this was his first time painting... he loved it and my 5 year old is a picaso already at it! LOL

Pumpkin patch and a party at Grandma's.

I first saw the ghost cookies at your retreat last year. I was trying to recall if the entire cookie was dipped in the almond bark or just part of the way. The timing for viewing your layout was perfect. Cute and simple layout. I like it!

Those ghost cookies look cute and delicious! We love watching the Great Pumpkin and all the old black & white horror classics - Dracula, Frankenstein, etc. Last weekend was the Mummy Marathon!

Leslie, that is so awesome that your kids come home for that! I hope we have traditions that our boys want to be involved in after they leave home.

I think the ones at the retreat were just half dipped. If I remember right they were sticking out of a cake or something. I remember I was going to make the ghost cookies for the retreat until mom told me that the caterer had already done it!

Reading all of your traditions has me even more excited for this week. And Christina, I'm so glad you mentioned Spooktacular! I almost forgot about it! We just might have to take the boys tomorrow night.

You are correct, Allison. The cookies were in a cheesecake. Yum!Yum! I want to make some for a party next week. I plan to dip mine completely.

Those are so fun! I used to make them with my mom when I was little, and now one of our traditions is to make them with my kids! We also make caramel apples at the first sign of fall every year! Love your layout, and LOVE fall! :)

Cool cookies, and nice LO. My husband and I love this time of year ... especially halloween, both of us never really grew up. Last year he made "cat-box" cookies. It was so funny and the kids loved scooping through the cat box for the treats. (He put half melted tootsie rolls into grapham cracker crumbs:)) It was disgusting ... it was perfect!
