Letting my family do the work.

One of my favorite things about working for Creating Keepsakes magazine have been the ideas. Without them I probably never would have came up with some of my most cherished layouts. This is one of them.

I was asked to create a layout that included journaling with the help of my family. I had a flood of ideas but ended up settling on asking my family members, "what was your favorite memory of the day Jackson was born." Each answer is completely different and I love that I got a peek into what was going on outside of my labor and delivery room.

Not only is this a great way to get a bunch of different perspectives on an event and document stories that you might have not known happened but your family has done your journaling for you. Can't beat that!

Wanna know what my favorite memory of the day was?

"Aside from the obvious birth, my favorite memory is from when I was in labor. I was having a really painful contraction when I heard Mike laugh. He was watching America's Funniest Home Videos and laughing while I was in pain. At the time I wanted to throw a heavy object at his head, but now I find it hilarious."

I remember this layout. I love that idea to get everyone's feelings on this happy day. I was surprised to see a post from you today after such a long week and busy weekend. Thank you for sharing. Well you flu from hell has landed in my area now and all weekend one by one we have all gotten except for the hubby. We are all resting up today hoping to feel ok for school tomorrow. I hate it when they get sick. Have a good week.

I soo love this!! I put together a layout with photos of everyone that came to the hospital to meet my son... I never did the journaling on it partially because I just didn't know exactly how I wanted to do it, but also because I just was unsure about the way I laid it all out... I am going to redo and will have to borrow your idea if you don't mind! I LOVE it!

Ali, could you tell me the name of the company that makes the heart template you use all the time and the one from Scrap-a-Palooza? Thank you.

This is one of my favorite ways you've done journaling...I wonder if it's because I got to do part of it?

Dawn, I hope you and your family are feeling better soon! I beginning to think no one is going to escape that flu.

Go for it Stephanie! It's a great way to do the journaling for photos like that. I think I'm going to do it more often!

Christina, I think the ones you are talking about are form GinX by Imagination Project. They are really old, probably one of the first things I ever bought!

Maybe so Stacey. Your story is one of my favorites of the day.
